About the Artwork

Poster advertising an exhibition of painting, sculpture, prints, and books at the art gallery of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, ca. 1937–40. Unidentified Mexican artist. Lithograph. The Elisha Whittelsey Collection, The Elisha Whittelsey Fund, 1946.
The lettering on the poster identifies Julio Castellanos (1895–1947) as the gallery Director. Castellanos was a Mexican artist who died shortly after assuming the role.
